When I turned 19, I moved into a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in Orem. The rent was $1,050 a month, which was manageable at the time. However, with today's prices, living there would mean barely scraping by, certainly not saving enough to ever move beyond renting. That realization led my wife and me to a difficult decision: we moved back in with my parents. It’s far from ideal. Sharing appliances and navigating a multi-generational household comes with its own set of challenges. We're still young, burdened with car payments, educational finances, and all the other expenses that come with starting adult life. Despite our best efforts, accumulating a sufficient down payment for a family home feels impossible given the current housing market. We're working tirelessly to increase our household income, but the housing market’s relentless climb seems to outpace every step we take. This struggle has cast a shadow over another dream, starting a family. We don't want to wait until we're older, we want to begin that chapter of our lives now. It’s been an incredibly tough period, a constant uphill battle. Yet, we remain determined, working every day towards building something we can truly call our own, a stable foundation where we can raise our family.
